    29 Aug 1915: Transferred AIF WW1, Private, 12th Light Horse Regiment
    1 Apr 1916: Transferred AIF WW1, Gunner, 5th Divisional Ammunition Column
    16 May 1916: Promoted AIF WW1, Driver, 5th Divisional Ammunition Column
    18 Jun 1916: Embarked AIF WW1, Driver, 612, 5th Divisional Ammunition Column, Embarked on Kinfaus Castle from Alexandria, Egypt on 18th June 1916, disembarking Marseilles, France on 29th June 1916 to join the British Expeditionary Force.
    23 Aug 1916: Transferred AIF WW1, Gunner, 5th Division Medium and Heavy Trench Mortar Batteries, AIF
    29 Jul 1917: Wounded AIF WW1, Gunner, 612, 5th Division Medium and Heavy Trench Mortar Batteries, AIF, Gun shot wound to right hand and arm. Treated at 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station then 18 A.T. before being transferred to 6 Convalescent and Command Depot and sunsequently 11 Convalescent and Command Depot before rejoining unit on 4th September 1917.

    'At I,II.b.05.60 on 24th July 1917, one gun of the V/5 Australian Heavy T.M. Battery was allotted the task of engaging a hostile strong point to cover the left flank of a raiding party. This brought heavy retaliation by 5.9 Hows. One direct hit on the pit dislodged the bed of the mortar
    No. 612 Gunner C. WYNDHAM immediately went to the assistance of Sergeant C.F.ARNOLD and helped him dismount the gun and mount it in an auxiliary pit where he continued to serve his piece. The splendid example displayed by this man inspired the remainder of the detachment to maintain effective fire.'

    19 Nov 1917: Transferred AIF WW1, Gunner, 13th Field Artillery Brigade, Detached from 5th Divisional Ammunition Column and attached to 13th Field Artillery Brigade. Rank of Temporary Bombardier reverted to Gunner on 30th November 1917.
