Norman Henry Turner was the youngest of 2 sons to Alice Helen Hitching and Captain William Thomas Turner OBE, RNR. His older brother Percival Wilfred Turner was an Able Seaman during WW2 and was lost at sea when the Merchant Vessel Jedmoor carrying 7400 tons of iron ore was sunk by U-98 on the 16th of Sept 1941.
Norman enlisted in both World Wars fighting for the Australian Infantry Service in active service and laterly in Training as Camp Staff.
He married fellow Australian Service Corporal Rita Edna Crowther (QF 267985 / QFX 52905) on the 29th of March 1947 in Toowoomba, Queensland. They were married 22 years until his passing in 1969.
