Son of John Tudor Vaughan and Agnes Vaughan nee Trotter of Sheep Hills, Victoria.

Commenced return to Australia on 12 October 1918 aboard HT Port Lyttleton disembarking on 25 December 1918

Medals: Meritorious Service Medal, 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

18 June 1918 he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for : - During period September 22nd 1917 to 24th February 1918 this N.C.O. Has consistently performed his duties in a most praiseworthy and conscientious manner. The keen personal interest and the energetic he has always carried out his work has not only been an example to the N.C.O.s and men of the Battery but has also earned for him the confidence of his Officers. During the extreme weather experienced whilst the Division was at Peronne, Sergeant Vaughan carried out his work, under extremely trying and severe conditions, in a manner worthy of the highest Commendation. During 1924c Daniel married Emma Fong Tong in Victoria.
