Son of George Yates and Rosalie Sarah Yates nee Sims of Avoca, Victoria. Brother of Leslie Reginald Yates who was killed in action on 26 July 1916 and buried in the Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La-Boisselle. Plot 11, Row F, Grave 3
