35th Infantry Battalion (NSW) 9th Brigade, 3rd Division, AIF,

About This Unit

The 35th Battalion was raised in NSW at Newcastle, and its initial complement contained a lot of men from the Hunter coalfields. It was to be the third of four Battalions forming the 9th Brigade, as denoted by its Colour patch; the eliptical shape denotes the Third Division, the green lower half the first brigade of the division and the brown upper half the third battalion of that brigade.
