About This Unit

When the Australian Army was reorganised in 1943–44 to prepare for jungle warfare, the independent commando squadrons were re-organised into a regimental system underneath the headquarters of the divisional cavalry units of the 6th, 7th and 9th Divisions.
As a part of the reorganisation, the 2/10th Commando Squadron was raised in January 1944, as part of the 2/6th Cavalry Commando Regiment, attached to the 6th Division. The colour patch displayed here is that of 2/6th Cavalry Commando Regiment.
We would particularly like to encourage individual historians researchers or members of unit associations to contribute to the development of a more detailed history and photographs pertaining to this unit and its members.
