About This Unit
For the purpose of this site 33 Squadron RAF is included as one of the many RAF squadrons in which RAAF Personnel served fought and died.
The squadron flew in support of Australian troops during the ill-starred Greece campaign and one of its pilots, Marmaduke Pattle, achieved possibly the highest number of enemy aircraft destroyed by a British or Commonwealth pilot, but was himself killed on operations near Athens on 20th April 1941.
