The victorious 1913 Waikerie Football team taken after they won the Grand Final against Morgan. Having won it for the third time in succession they 'retired' the trophy as was the practice at the time.

The Tenth Battalion on parade at Torrens Parade Ground in Adelaide. It is believed to have been taken in October 1914 just prior to the Battalion's embarking for the Middle East. Torrens Parade Ground is an icon of the State's military history. Having been a militia training area since the early days of the Colony, beginning with the Boer War, many South Australian military contingents have paraded at Torrens Parade Ground prior to embarkation. These days, Torrens Parade Ground is the home of ANZAC House RSL SA State Headquarters.

LANCASTER AIRCRAFT OF NO. 463 SQUADRON RAAF, AT RAF STATION WADDINGTON, WAITING TO BE BOMBED UP FOR A DAYLIGHT RAID ON GERMAN MILITARY TARGETS IN FRANCE.

Lieutenant General (later Sir) Leslie Mooreshead, General Officer Commanding the 9th Division at Tobruk. A one-time teacher, Gallipoli veteran and renowned as a disciplinarian, he was nick-named 'Ming the Merciless' by his troops after a cartoon character of the time.

Arthur Bruce Durdin, MC and on the right is Major Karl Friederichs. Captain Durdin survived the war but Karl Friedrichs was killed in action by shellfire on 21 April near Dernancourt, France during defensive operations against the German Spring Offensive.

A Lancaster crew of No 467 Squadron, RAAF, at Bottesford, Leicestershire, preparing to set off for Berlin on the evening of 31 August 1943. They are, from left: Flight Sergeants J Scott, G. Eriksen and A Boys, Sergeant C Adair, Flight Sergeant B Jones (Captain), Flight Sergeant J Wilkinson and Sergeant E Tull, RAF, the only Englishman in the crew. This aircraft is 'M for Mother' at this time a veteran of 40 missions. It appears in two other published images, one of which was close-up of the nose art on the aircraft (AWM UK UK0463). It also appears in another image on this site, with a different crew later in 1943 by which time it had racked up 53 missions.

Studio portrait of 420870 Pilot Officer (PO) William Eldred Felstead, No. 467 Squadron, RAAF, of Sydney, NSW. A clerk prior to enlisting in December 1941, PO Felstead trained as a pilot in Australia, Canada and England with the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS). On 10 May 1944, PO Felstead was piloting Lancaster LL788, radio call sign PO-G, which exploded and crashed while on operations over Lille, France. PO Felstead and the six other crew members on board were killed. PO Felstead was 22 years of age.
