Sergeant James Alexander Kennedy (Service No:VX81319) initially enlisted in the ACMF as a Gunner (Service No:V156446) attached to 22 Field Regiment. On 16 July 1942 he enlisted in the AIF and served in New Guinea (30 July 1943 - 4 March 1944) as a Bombardier with 2/4 Field Regiment. He was in Borneo (2 June 1945 - 25 January 1946) as a Sergeant and was attached to 2/4 Armoured Regiment when he was Discharged on 5 July 1946.
Born in 1923 in Bright Victoria, Jim was the third of five children of Alexander Christopher Kennedy (b1881 in Smoko, Victoria) and Annie Webster (nee Pemberton; b1891 in Mildura, Victoria. Alexander and Annie married in 1919 in Bright, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Alexander worked as a Tanner.
Jim worked as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter prior to his enlistment and in 1947 in Melbourne, Victoria married Mildred (Millie) Moya Aldridge (b1923 in Echuca, Victoria) - Millie was an Aircraftwoman in the RAAF). Jim and Millie settled in Coburg, Victoria where they raised their family and Jim worked as a Fitter and Plumber/Welder. Jim died in 1990 and Millie in 2018.
