"LATE PTE. W. H. G. OSBORN
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Osborn, of Aldgate, formerly of Echunga and Mitcham, have been advised by the military authorities that their youngest son, Pte. W. H. G. Osborn, was killed in action in France on August 25. He enlisted in January, 1915, and left South Australia on May 31 of the same year. He saw active service on Gal- lipoli before proceeding to France. He was a member of the church choir at Echunga, and was held in high esteem by the local townspeople. The deceased, who completed his education at Muirden College, was engaged in clerical work for several years, and latterly followed farming and other pursuits. He was the only brother of Mr. C. J. G. Osborn, of Unley." - from the Adelaide Register 21 Sep 1916 (nla.gov.au)
