09 July 1916 disembarked Plymouth
04 Nov 1916 transferred to 9th Machine Gun Company from 35th Bn. In England.
21 Nov 1916 Departed Southhampton
22 Nov 1916 Arrived Havre
"KILLED IN ACTION.
The following cable was received last evening by the Rev. Arthur Killworth, M.A., LL.B., from Colonel Luscombe:-
"Officially reported that No. 1484, Pte. A. W. Card, 9th Machine Gun Coy., late 35th Battalion, killed in action 24th February. Please inform parents, Oakhampton-road, West Maitland, and convey deep regret and sympathy of their Majesty's the King and Queen and Commonwealth Government in the loss that they and the Army have sustained by the death of soldier."
Deceased was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Card, of Oakhampton and sailed with the 35th Battalion. His 21st birthday occured three days prior to his death. He was a promising young man, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
