Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board
John Halpin GLYNN (Service Number 3800A) was born in Goulburn in 1898 and joined the NSW Government Railways as a call boy at the Goulburn locomotive depot in July 1914. In October 1915 he enlisted in the AIF at Casula.
He was killed in action on 27th September 1917 at Polygon Wood. He has no known grave but is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.

John Halpin GLYNN (Service Number 3800A) was born in Goulburn in 1898 and joined the NSWGR as a call boy at the Goulburn locomotive depot in July 1914. In October 1915 he enlisted in the AIF at Casula.
He was sent first to Egypt. He was allotted to the 56th Battalion there in April 1916. He was sent to France in June.
He was wounded in action on 3rd October 1916 and evacuated to hospital in England. He was discharged from hospital and given a fortnight’s leave in February 1917. He was readmitted to hospital in March with pneumonia, for which he was treated until mid-May. In July 1917 he was sent back to France and re-joined his unit in August.
He was killed in action on 27th September 1917 at Polygon Wood. He has no known grave but is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. War pensions were granted by the authorities to his widowed mother, and to a dependent brother and sister.
