Wirraway aircraft A20-584 and A20-215 from Number 5 Service Flying Training School based at Uranquinty collided in mid-air near The Rock (a small town 20 miles south of Wagga in NSW)
Warrant Officer Smith 407450 LAC Chantler 422931 were both killed in aircraft A20-584
LAC Cooper 428633 was killed in A20-215 while Sergeant Leonard Hardie White 413809 was able to parachute to safety - he died while serving with 4OTU as a Pilot Officer (26 November 1943)
