He was 20 years old. He emigrated aged 16.
Embarked for France 5 June 1915.
He is remembered on the Guernsey -St Peter Port War Memorial which is a Memorial Garden with wall and column topped with a statue of a soldier. Metal plaques are mounted on the wall (for WWI) and on the column (for WWII).Memorial unveiled on 19th September 1926 by Sir Charles Sackville-West.
He is one of two Australian Great War casualties to be honoured on this war memorial - the other is Guernsey born 2581 Pte. Edward Frank Joseph Barrette (/explore/people/145334) of the 29th Battalion, Australian Infantry, A.I.F. who died of wounds 2 December 1916. He is also honoured on the Guernsey-St Saviour War Memorial which is a stone Cross on stepped base in the churchyard of the parish church of St Saviour.
